“The topic given was “Piezospectroscopy & Thermal Barrier Coatings”
Laser detection technology and thermal barrier coatings are modern science’s attempt to gain a deeper understanding of what can not be seen with the naked eye. Throughout the ages humans have le also desired a deeper understanding of the world around them by leveraging a metaphysical approach of perception of the intangible through intuition and the third eye.
I wanted to use this concept as a metaphor for the laser’s and Thermal Barrier Coatings mission. The third eye is reminiscence of the laser as the different rays flow from intuition.
The swirls and curved design in the rays are demonstrative of how damage is detected in the turbine. The circles demonstrate the stress levels as shown in demonstration through the laser. The smaller the dots the less stress damage the more stress the bigger the dots. The visual detection of each type of damage is displayed through the rays. “The Third Eye” is the laser point on her forehead. The closed eyes represent a desire purposely tune into her third eye and the perception of intuition and ultimately desiring a deeper understanding of the world around her.”
